Year 6 Students visit Parliament House

On Tuesday our Year 6 students visited Queensland Parliament house. This connects with the Australian curriculum - Civics (Westminster System and the three levels of Government). The students showed off their knowledge in Question-and-Answer sessions as well as exploring the Members library. They also took the opportunity to debate a mock bill in the Queensland Legislative Assembly room, sitting in the actual seats the Premier and the rest of parliament use. Students then visited the Jewish Synagogue, and enjoyed asking questions about Jewish traditions, celebrations and beliefs. This provided the opportunity for them to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Jewish High Holy days, an important part of our Religion Curriculum.
